With solid ball movement, good shooting, and board control on both ends of the court, the Sully Buttes Charger boys came away with a 57-47 victory over North Central Friday night in Onida.
The Chargers took control in the second quarter, and led 25-13 at the half, and 46-22 after three quarters. But the Thunder came roaring back in the fourth—outscoring Sully Buttes 25-11 in the final quarter to make a run for an upset. The Chargers kept their cool, and ended the regular season at 9-11.
The 4-16 Thunder had faced the Stanley County boys the previous night, but didn’t let up until the final buzzer.
Leading in scoring for Sully Buttes was Caleb Chicoine and Rafe Wientjes—both seniors scored 16 points apiece, while fellow senior Garrett Petersen finished with six points—on senior appreciation night.
The Chargers will have a Tuesday night contest on the road, and you can hear the action on Country 95.3FM, with a 7PM tipoff, and a 6:40PM pregame.
