The Muskegon Lumberjacks are now one win away from heading the Clark Cup Championship of the USHL playoffs. Muskegon beat the Dubuque Fighting Saints 2-1 and 7-4 on the road this weekend to take a 2-0 series lead.
Muskegon has won six playoff games in a row since dropping game two of the opening round best-of-three series when they beat Cedar Rapids in three games. Since, they swept the best team in the Eastern Conference in Youngstown and lead the two seed Dubuque 2-0. They can close out the series on Tuesday or Wednesday at home. Dubuque did lead 1-0 in game two on Saturday, but it was six straight goals by the Jacks to swell the lead to 6-1 and put the series at a stranglehold. Former Oahe Capital, Carter Sanderson registered a shot on goal and finished with a +/- of 1 in the win.
Game three of the series has a 6:10 Central Time puck drop in Muskegon on Tuesday.
