The Pierre Governor tennis team will return to the courts after nearly two weeks off, as they travel to Huron for an ESD triangular against the Tigers and Watertown Arrows on Saturday.
Pierre went 2-3 over the course of the first weekend of the year including going 1-2 against Class A teams. Pierre beat Rapid City Central 6-3 and Spearfish 9-0 while the Govs dropped its three duals to Rapid City Christian, Stevens and St. Thomas More, with a 5-4 loss to the Cavaliers. Brady Lowery went 3-2 in singles flight four and doubles to start the year, teaming with Jacoby LaRoche in doubles flight three. William Southern went 3-2 in singles flight five
Now, the Govs will face their first ESD opponents with Huron and Watertown. This will be Huron’s first dual of the season while Watertown had its opening dual on Thursday against Lincoln in a loss to the Patriots. Pierre is still two weeks away from hosting its first event of the season when Aberdeen Central on Thursday, April 24.
The day begins at 11:30 AM at the Huron Tennis Courts on Saturday.
