PIERRE, (KCCR) — Pierre police needed a Taser to bring a vandalism suspect into custody Tuesday night. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers were called to the 400 block of West Sioux Avenue around 8:30 pm following a report of a man who broke a window at a business. That suspect left the area by the time officers arrived, but as they searched for the man, he returned to the business. That’s when the suspect fled from officers. Officers engaged in a foot pursuit until the suspect was stopped on Sioux Avenue. The suspect, identified by police as 27 year-old Bobby Anderson, would not comply with officer commands and became aggressive with police. Following multiple warnings a Taser was deployed to bring Anderson into custody. Anderson was arrested then transported to Avera St. Mary’s hospital for medical clearance after the Taser use. Once cleared Anderson was taken to the Hughes County Jail on charges including intentional damage to property, obstructing an officer and an active arrest warrant from Pennington County.
