PIERRE, (KCCR) — The John Waldron Bridge project and Euclid Avenue reconstruction aren’t the only road projects the South Dakota Department of Transportation will be working on in the Pierre/Fort Pierre area this year. Starting next Monday work will resume on the placement of polymer deck seals on bridges across Stanley County. The Bad River Bridge is one such structure. Crews will also replace concrete approach slabs to the Bad River Bridge to smooth out travel over the bridge. New sidewalk railings, grinding and patchwork and applying the deck seal are a part of the work. Traffic will be carried across the bridge with a 10-foot width restriction. After the Bad River Bridge, work crews will move to a bridge on Highway 14/63 near Hayes. During work hours, traffic over the 14/63 bridge will be done by stop-and-go signage with a 14-foot width restriction. Work on the Bad River Bridge should take approximately two months to complete. The 14-63 project should take about two-weeks to complete. The estimated cost of the projects are two-point-one-two million dollars.
