The South Dakota State Jackrabbits found the same fate as every team over the last 32 years in the second round of the NCAA Tournament against the UConn Huskies, a tough loss to end the season.
UConn’s streak of consecutive Sweet 16 team appearances continues as they have made every appearance since 1994 and would pick up a 91-57 win over the Jacks on Monday in Storrs, Connecticut. South Dakota State had a lead as the first quarter would start to get later, but it ended with a 19-14 score. UConn then outscored the Jacks by 10 in the second and 21 in the third to control and put the game away for good. Paige Bueckers had the game high 34 points in her final game on the floor at the Gampel Pavillion. She lost just one time at home in her career with Huskies. Addi Fuzz and Sarah Strong had 17 and 15 points respectively. Paige Meyer was the only Jack in double figures in the loss as she had 16. SDSU shot 41% from the field while the Huskies shot nearly 58%. UConn had 35 points off turnovers.
The loss snaps the Jacks 20 game win streak and has them finish at 30-4 on the season. UConn will advance to face the three seed Oklahoma Saturday in the Sweet 16 in Spokane, Washington.
