The Pierre Governors Boys Basketball came up a little short despite an incredible effort against the second seeded Brandon Valley Lynx in the SoDak 16 on Saturday 53-42.
In the first, the Lynx took the early advantage with a tremendous defense that bottled up Luke Olson and Dawson Getz. It was Lincoln Dilges who took advantage of some early looks and cashed in to keep Pierre on pace with Brandon Valley. The Lynx would still control the game into the end of the first with an eight point lead. Pierre would manage to keep pace to some degree in the second with Eladio Semintal getting some shine both on offense and defense. Sawyer Sonnenschein also began to come alive with a big triple and would help Pierre to keep Brandon Valley within striking distance down 23-14 after the first half.
The third would be all about Semintal for Pierre and Landon Dulaney for Brandon Valley as they began to overtake the defenses. Dulaney would end up leading all scorers with 19 points while Semintal would score 11 in the game. Pierre would get timely shots that would push the game to a seven point contest late in the quarter. Grant Hennen began to take over near the end of the game, ending up with eight for Brandon Valley, with dominating offense in the post. This would push the Lynx to a 17-point lead.
Pierre finishes the season at 6-15 as the Governor careers for Getz, Sonnenschein, Olson, Siminetal, Cayden Morris, and Bennett Swartos would come to a close.
