Junior Wesley Wittler scored a season, and perhaps a career high 41 points as the Sully Buttes Chargers advanced to the Sodak 16 with a 68-46 victory over Potter County Friday night in Onida.
The leading scorer and rebounder found his rhythm, but not before the Battlers came out and led 10-4 midway through the first, and 15-13 at the of the quarter. In the second Sully Buttes outscored the Battlers 16-5 with Wittler hitting for 13 of those points, and the Chargers led 29-20 at the half.
The Battlers responded in the third quarter as Jerand Chase scored nine of his team high 15 points, and Jhett Simon added eight to his game total of 12. Sully Buttes kept pace, with Wittler adding 10, Jett Yackley five. After three the Chargers led 48-42.
In the fourth quarter the Chargers turned on the afterburners outscoring Potter County 20-4 to close out the contest, and advance to the SoDak Sixteen Tuesday to face the Wall Eagles in Philip.
Sully Buttes ups its record to 17-4, while Potter County ended the year at 8-14.
