The Oahe Lady Capitals needed two wins over the weekend against Brookings at home, they accomplished the task and moved from the four seed to the three seed heading into the state tournament.
The Caps would win 4-2 on Saturday and 5-2 on Sunday as they never trailed in either game. Oahe opened up the scoring in the first period as Brylee Kafka and Kallee Behm each would score in the first and Emily Nemec would make it 3-1 at the end of the first period. Oahe played solid defense and Kafka finished off the game with an empty netter as Kylee Fromm had 18 saves on 20 shots. Dakota McEntaffer, Aubrey Stewart and Elliot Bertsch each had an assist in the win.
Then on Sunday, Oahe opened up quickly with another goal from Kafka as she powered her way to four goals in the game finishing with the league best 35 goals on the season. Oahe broke 1-1 and 2-2 ties on the way to the win. Elliot Bertsch would finish the game with a power play, her second of the season as Fromm made 18 saves on 20 shots for her second consecutive win. Oahe finishes the season at 13-8 and will be the three seed in the state tournament.
Oahe will open the state tournament being the first game on Thursday, March 6 in Sioux Falls facing the Sioux Center Storm. Puck drop is at 1:00 on Thursday on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports as all 11 tournament games will be on the air and available to watch.
