The Oahe Capitals boys and girls team would drop games to undefeated teams on Friday and Saturday as the boys would lose 7-2 to Rushmore on Friday and the Lady Caps, a 5-1 loss on both Friday and Saturday to Sioux Falls
The Capital girls had to deal with an injury to Sophia Peschong, the starting goalie as she left Friday’s game with a lower body injury and did not play on Saturday. Oahe had its lone goal scored on Friday by Brylee Kafka after it was 5-0. On Saturday, Kylee Fromm got the start and made 44 saves on 49 shots. Dakota McEntaffer had the lone goal for the Caps assisted by Elliot Bertsch to tie the game at 1-1 early in the first period. It was 1-1 after one and 3-1 after two, before the Flyers put in the final two goals in the third. Oahe drops to 11-8 on the season and will face Brookings on Saturday and Sunday to close the season.
In the boys game, the Capitals played to a 1-0 game after the first period and it was 2-1 when Dylan Dodson scored the first Capitals goal of the game with 10 minutes remaining in the second period. However, Rushmore would add four more goals in the final six and a half minutes of the period to lead 6-1 after two. Tryton Parmely made it 7-2 with eight and a half minutes remaining in the third. Jaxon Jungwirth had one of his best games of the season as he collected 51 saves on 58 shots. Oahe is now 6-12.
Oahe boys will play Friday at home against the Watertown Lakers at 8:15 while the boys and girls play Brookings on Saturday at 4:30 for the boys and 6:30 for the girls. Then on Sunday, the girls finish the season taking on Brookings again at 11:45.
