Despite cold shooting the Sully Buttes Charger boys took control early and often and cruised past Herreid/Selby Area 77-38 Tuesday night in Onida.
The Chargers led 24-12 after one, and 45-16 at the half. Midway through the third quarter the mercy rule was enacted, as the Chargers led 63-30 at the end of the third quarter.
Even though Sully Buttes controlled the game throughout they missed numerous in close shots, let alone three pointers. Wesley Wittler still led with 29 points with Gavin Colson adding 15 for the Chargers. Sully Buttes had fairly balanced scoring throughout the rest of the roster as the Chargers emptied their bench in the fourth quarter. Sully Buttes ups their season record to 12-3 with an eight game win streak.
The Herreid/Selby Area Wolverines just couldn’t find their shooting touch, save for Xavier Ritter and freshman shooting sensation Tatum Quaschnick each scoring 10 points for the 4-12 Wolverines.
Sully Buttes travels to Mobridge Thursday to take on powerhouse Mobridge-Pollock with the Tiger girls at 11-3, and the boys sporting a 10-4 season record. Both games will be broadcast on Country 95.3FM with DT Meyer on the call. The girls game is slated for a 6:15 start, and the boys game to follow.
