PIERRE, (KCCR) — A bill in the South Dakota Legislature to support horse racing in Fort Pierre in 2025 has passed it’s first legislative hurdle. House Bill 1057 would take 60-thousand dollars from the South Dakota-bred racing fund and deposit it in the special racing revolving fund. Shane Kramme with Fort Pierre Horse Racing and Verendrye Benevolent Association says moving the money would make funds more flexible to put toward the October event…
Kramme was the only testimony in favor of the bill. There was no opposition testimony. House Bill 1057 cleared the House Committee on Appropriations eight-to-zero. Because the bill deals with the transfer of money it must be heard on the House floor. District 24 Representative Mike Weisgram, the bill’s sponsor, will present the measure tot he full House.
