Pierre Takes Second at Yankton Invite Friday

The Pierre Governor girls wrestling team would finish in second place on Friday in Yankton, the first time this year the Govs don’t win a team tournament title. Pierre scored a 161 while Canton had a 176.5

When talking with coach Matt Thorson on Coaches Corner this past week he said the team is being wise on rest and getting other girls matches, but the Govs still competed hard throughout the tournament. Shaylee Speck, Dani Ringstmeyer and Abbi Lewis would each get tournament wins on Friday. Ireland Templeton placed second, while Jayda Steinke had a third place finish and Kyanne Traversie-Johnson and Brylee Pelle each had fourth place finishes.
