Marlins Hold On to beat Lady Caps

The Mitchell Marlins had a three point game from Livaya Mimmack and held on to a 3-2 lead to get the win over the Oahe Lady Capitals in Mitchell on Saturday.

Both Makenna Tronnes and Mimmack scored goals 21 seconds apart in the first period to take a 2-0 lead midway through the period. Brylee Kafka would score from Mallory Lehrkamp with just seven seconds remaining in the first. It’s Kafka’s 99th career goal. Raegan Pfeifer would score to tie the game up with 1:42 left in the second, but just 12 seconds later, Mimmack would get her second goal and game winner as Kaylie O’Connor mad 37 saves on 39 shots including 10 in the third period for the win. Sophia Peschong also made 37 saves on 40 shots for the Caps.

Mitchell improves to 5-7 while the Caps fall to 9-3. Oahe will have next weekend off and will play in Aberdeen next on Saturday, January 25. The game will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
