Highmore-Harrold Girls go to 7-1, Down Sully Buttes in Onida

The young Highmore-Harrold Pirates girls basketball team looked like veterans Friday night downing the Sully Buttes Chargers 50-34 in front of a full gym in Onida.

The Pirates start three freshmen and two juniors, but they pressured the Chargers on both ends of the court, and Sully Buttes had no answer to stop it. Sully Buttes committed 27 turnovers to Highmore-Harrold’s 12 on the night.

Balanced scoring by the Pirates was the result of superior ball movement with Autumn Fallis hitting for 14 and Elle Stagg had 13. The Chargers were once again led in scoring by Payge Bakker’s 13 points with no other players in double figures.

The Chargers record now drops to 4-5 on the season, and will travel to Miller Thursday to face the Rustlers in a girls-boys doubleheader.
