The Pierre Governor basketball teams would start 2025 against North Dakota rival, Bismarck as the girls would win the Governor’s Cup in Bismarck 70-41 while the boys would drop a 79-64 game at home.
The Governor girls defense stymied the Bismarck team forcing around 20 turnovers in the game led by Gracelyn Taylor and Lennix DuPris leading the way in steals. Emery Larson finished with a game high 22 points including five threes. DuPris had 19 points on the offensive side for Pierre in the win as the Governor improve to 3-2 on the season.
Bismarck boys would have its largest lead of 20 in the game and led by double digits throughout the entire second half. The Demons were led by Andre Austin who had 20 points. Pierre had three players in double figures as Luke Olson would tie for the game high 20 points while Dawson Getz had 13 and Corde Austin finishing with 12. Pierre drops to 2-3 on the season.
Pierre will have its next games on Saturday against the Washington Warriors. The boys will remain at home and the girls will travel. Both games will tip off at 2:00 on Saturday.
