The Winner Warriors would come to Fort Pierre on Tuesday and knock off the Stanley County Buffaloes in a doubleheader with the girls winning 39-15 and the boys 48-33.
Both games were low scoring in the first half as the Lady Buffs trailed Winner just 15-9 at the break, before the Warriors would outscore Stanley County 24-6 in the second half. Winner struggled from the free throw line in the first half going 3-11 in the first half, but Kylie Sachtjen would force numerous steals and control the end of the second quarter and beginning of the third as she would have 10 points for the Warriors. Keelie Kull would lead all scorers with 12 points. Addi Deal would have a team high four points while Kasen McGee and Cameryn Norman each had three. Winner is now 1-1 while Stanley County drops to 1-3.
The Warrior boys team would be led by Carter Craven who had a game high 19 points as Winner improves to 2-0 on the season. The Warriors played without Nebraska commit Shawn Hammerbeck, but were still able to push the lead and push the win for Winner. Stanley County led 11-10 after the first quarter and a big Eddie Duffy three made the game a six point contest 39-33 late in the fourth, but it was the last time the Buffs would score. Kaden Montana would lead the Buffs with 12 points while Duffy had nine on three threes and Paxton Deal finished with eight as Stanley County drops to 1-1 on the season.
The Buffs will have one more game left in 2024 as they travel to Philip on Thursday for a girls and boys doubleheader. Games will begin at 4:30 Central time.
