The Oahe Capitals girls and boys teams will both be in action this weekend as the Capital girls will host Rushmore Friday before traveling to Watertown while the boys host Brandon Valley and Huron.
The Capitals girls team is 5-1 on the season after a three game sweep of Sioux Center at home last weekend. The Caps will look for another three wins this weekend as Oahe hosts Rushmore tonight, who they’ve already beaten twice and then Watertown who is 1-2-1 so far on the year. Watertown will face Brookings for a second time on Friday before hosting the Capitals on Saturday and Sunday.
The Capital boys will look for a four game winning streak to end 2024 as both Brandon Valley and Huron are in town as both have struggled to get points so far on the season. Brandon Valley is at 1-5 with its only win against Sioux Center while Huron is coming off a near upset win over Yankton. The All-Stars lost 5-4 in overtime, but are still 0-4-0-1 and have just five goals in five games heading into the weekend. Oahe is wanting to build off its 16 goals scored in the two games against Sioux Center for its first two wins.
All five games will be aired with tonight coverage starting at 7:40 with puck drop at 8:00 at the Expo Center in Fort Pierre. Saturday, the Lakers and Caps play at 2:30 in Watertown with Jim Lloyd on the call before the boys and Brandon Valley play at 5:15. Then on Sunday, the Caps and Lakers finish the weekend set with a 10:00 AM puck drop followed by the Caps and Huron All-Stars at 4:00. All game son Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
