Two Small Wildfires Reported In Stanley County Last Week

FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Great Plains Fire Information Service says two small wildfires took place Friday in Stanley County. The Maria Fire took place a mile north of Fort Pierre Friday. The fire was estimated at an acre in size and caused by humans. State resources responded to the fire to help contain the fire. Federal wildfire resources were called on Friday to the Twin Lake Fire nine miles northwest of Fort Pierre. That fire was also listed as being caused by a person. The size of the Twin Lake Fire is listed one-tenth of an acre. The fire was listed as out in a press release from the Great Plains Fire Dispatch Zone. The Great Plains Fire Dispatch Zone covers private and public lands in and around the Black Hills National Forest and Nebraska National Forest and Grasslands in South Dakota and Nebraska.
