Governors Get First Duals with Tea, Brookings in Town

The Pierre Governor wrestling teams will be at home for the first time this season as they begin a busy three day stretch, first hosting Tea Area and Brookings in a triangular.

The Governor girls would get a tournament win to start the year as three Governors wrestled a Bobcat on Friday in Watertown. Both Gemma Stangeland and Dani Ringstmeyer would get wins against Brookings as Jersey Lewis was the other Governor to wrestle someone from Brookings. This will be the first time Pierre will see the Tea Titans.

For the boys, the Governors will see only their third and fourth South Dakota teams after wrestling in Mandan last weekend. Pierre would record sixth, but only had Strugis and Stevens competing from South Dakota in the tournament. Pierre won 44-32 over Brookings last year, but did not wrestle Tea Area in a dual.

The triangular starts at 6:00 tonight with both the girls and boys team traveling out to Rapid City for the another weekend tournament starting Friday morning.
