The Pierre Governor wrestling teams are set to begin the season this weekend as the Governor girls will travel to Watertown on Friday and the Governor boys will wrestle in Mandan on Friday and Saturday.
While Pierre Governor wrestling has always been tough and competitive, and it will continue to be that way, but both teams are entering the season in different spots. Both teams graduated some strong wrestlers, but the boys team has a lot more graduated spots than the girls side. The Governors will get two days with plenty of matches in Mandan this weekend. Shawn Lewis, head coach of the Pierre boys team says it will be interesting to see how all the new guys fill in those roles…

The girls side of things, the Governors will be in Watertown for a single day tournament to kick off the season. Pierre has won every team title since wrestling has become a sport for the girls to compete in. The Governor girls continue to add more and more to the roster as the sport continues to grow and Matt Thorson, head coach of the Pierre Governor girls team says they’ve even added a couple of seniors to the roster…

The Governor boys will start its two day tournament in Mandan at 3:00 this afternoon while the Governor girls will start wrestling at 4:00 in Watertown.
