South Dakota Faces Creighton in First Round of NCAA Volleyball Tournament

VERMILLION, S.D. — After earning an automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Volleyball Tournament as the Summit League Tournament Champions, the South Dakota volleyball team will travel to Omaha, Nebraska to face off against No. 2 seed Creighton Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. in D.J. Sokol Arena. 

Matching up on the other side of the Omaha grouping is Ole Miss and No. 7 seed Florida State. The Rebels and Seminoles will play in the first match of the day at D.J. Sokol Arena on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The winner of the two matches will then play Friday night in the second round at 7:00 p.m. 

The Coyotes became the first Summit League team to win three games in three days to win the tournament crown. The Yotes swept their way to the championship match with 3-0 wins over Kansas City and Omaha in the first two rounds before winning a five-set thriller over South Dakota State to earn their fifth tournament title in the last seven seasons.

Creighton holds a 6-2 record in the all-time series against the Yotes, and the two teams last met 2021. The last time the Coyotes and Bluejays met in Omaha, it was the Yotes who won 3-2 over Creighton.
