The Rushmore Thunder boys varsity would get six goals in the first period and win 13-0 over the Oahe Capitals on Saturday night as the Thunder improve to 4-0 while the Caps fall to 0-3.
Rushmore had 55 shots in the game against the Caps with both goalies for Oahe getting action. Jaxon Jungwirth made 22 saves on the first 31 shots and Sam Skjonsberg had 20 saves in his 24 shots he faced. Cameron Ritter and Andrew Welling each had a hat trick while Wyatt Reeder had two goals and four assists as he continues his average of at least five points a game as he is up to eight goals and 13 assists in four games so far this season. Brody Lee made six saves in the shutout. Colten Merchan also had two goals for the Thunder.
The Capitals will get next weekend off before hosting the Sioux Center Storm on both Friday and Saturday, December 13-14 in the first home games of the season. Both games will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
