PIERRE, (KCCR) — District 24 Representatives Will Mortenson and Mike Weisgram have been assigned to new committees ahead of the 2025 Legislative Session. Mortenson will serve as co-chair of the interim State-Tribal Relations Committee. Both Mortenson and Weisgram will serve on the House Taxation Committee. Weisgram will serve as chair of the House Retirement Laws Committee. Mortenson will have a seat on the House Judiciary Committee. Weisgram will serve again on the House Commerce and Energy Committee, a Committee chaired last year. On the Senate side, District 24 Senator Jim Mehlhaff will remain on the Rules Review Committee. He will also chair the powerful Senate State Affairs Committee and have a seat on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Mehlhaff will be vice chair of Senate Legislative Procedure. Legislative committees will be formally organized on the first day of the 100th session of the South Dakota Legislature after members have been certified by the Secretary of States office.
