Top Seeded Miller Drops First Round Match to Defending State Champion

The Sioux Falls Christian Chargers would show why they are the seven time defending state champion with a sweep of top seeded Miller 25-14, 25-17 and 25-11 Thursday morning in Sioux Falls.

The Chargers would get a match high 17 kills from its leading hitter in Brietta Tims including two block assists for 19 points. Addisen Barber had 28 assists and four kills for the Chargers while the team finished with seven serving aces. Miller could only muster 17 kills against a tough defense as Aleah Schlechter and Kaihlyn Anderberg each had five kills to lead the Rustlers who drop its second match of the entire season. Paige Werdel had three of the teams five aces and Olivia Resel had 15 assists.

The Rustlers are now 28-2 and will face Mount Vernon/Plankinton in the consolation championship on Friday at 11:00 AM. Sioux Falls Christian will face fourth seeded Dakota Valley in the championship semifinals at 5:00 on Friday.
