FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) —South Dakota conservation officers are investigating the poaching of a mule deer in Stanley County. According to a post on the South Dakota Turn In Poachers Facebook page an informant contacted a conservation officer to notify them of a headless mule deer located near Highway 14/34 and Brown Church Road on November 10th. Three days later, conservation officers found a male whitetail deer that was shot from the road near the intersection of Bad River Road and Cactus Place. Both deer, according to the investigating officers were likely shot in the evening of November 9th with a similar, small caliber firearms. Neither deer had meat harvested from them. Anyone with information regarding the poaching is encouraged to call 1-888-OVERBAG or contact Wildlife Conservation Officer Dylan Peterson at 605-730-3774. Information that leads to an arrest is eligible for a reward.
