The Pierre Governor football team will pick up four members on the All-ESD team this year with Jacob Mikkonen on the offensive line with Colter Babcock, Carson Stoeser and Elijah Boutchee on defense.
The Governors went 2-3 in the ESD this season with wins over Aberdeen Central and Huron. Pierre picks up the four members which is third best behind Watertown and Yankton as the Arrows would win the conference going undefeated and Yankton’s only ESD loss in 11AA was to Watertown. Stoeser has 17 tackles and two tackles for loss heading into the 11AA semifinals while also having an interception and fumble recovery. The corner didn’t get much thrown to him as one of the best corners in the state and Steele says the statistics are better when there isn’t any for corners…
Babcock finished with 30 tackles, a sack and four tackles for loss including three interceptions and Steele says he was a force in the middle of the field…
Boutchee was second on the team in tackles with 34.5 and has 11 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Boutchee also had two fumble recoveries and ended up with five touchdown runs as a special packaged quarterback. Steele says he is the prototype athlete for an all-conference honor…
