The Stanley County Lady Buffaloes had to survive the first set against the Chamberlain Cubs on Tuesday night before rolling to a three set sweep in the first round of the 6A playoffs.
Scores of the match were 25-22, 25-16 and 25-20 as the Lady Buffs improved its record to 15-12 on the season while Chamberlain will finish theirs at 4-23. Chamberlain made a strong push as the six seed had the lead as the first set was getting late, but a couple of aces brought the Buffs back in control before leading the majority of the way in the next two sets. Both Breckyn Huebner and JoRayah Walker had seven kills to tie for the match high while Brylee Kafka and Addy Deal added in four kills. Caycee Knight, who was recognized before the game for her 1000th assist, also finished with a kill for Stanley County.
The Lady Buffs will get its chance to go after Mobridge-Pollock on Thursday for a spot in the SoDak 16. Mobridge-Pollock would sweep Crow Creek Tuesday. First serve time is still to be determined.
