After starting slow out of the gate, the Sully Buttes Chargers volleyball team pulled together to push the top seeded Ipswich Tigers but in the end it was a 25-12, 21-25, 25-18 and 25-12 victory for Ipswich on their home court advancing them to Thursday play at home.
The Tigers played solid defense, and Sully Buttes once again had too many unforced errors to overcome and it led to their final match of the volleyball season.
Leading the way for Sully Buttes was Madison Bradberry who led in kills with Payge Bakker contributing at the net. Defensively, the Chargers were overmatched by the efficiency of the Tigers offensive output–led by junior Marley Guthmiller and senior Kaylin Onken with solid back row defense, led by libero Brianna Geditz. The Tigers upped their season mark to 21-8. Sully Buttes ended the year at 4-24.
In other Region 6B play, fourth seeded Faulkton advances with a 3-1 victory over North Central, and will travel to Ipswich Thursday for a chance to advance to the Sodak 16.
In the lower bracket, second seed Herreid Selby Area needed only three sets to oust Tiopspaye Topa, and will host Potter County, a 3-0 winner over Highmore Harrold. That match will be played in Selby. Both matches are scheduled 7:00 starts.
