PIERRE, (KCCR) — A man was killed Friday in a crash on Interstate 90 in Jackson County. According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety the crash happened Friday around 6:20 pm four miles west of Kadoka at mile marker 146. The preliminary crash investigation shows the unidentified man was traveling east on the interstate in a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 when, for reasons yet to be determined, the vehicle struck a roadside cable barrier. The cable barrier is a part of the bridge that lets Interstate 90 pass over Weller Road. The vehicle then entered the median and rolled over. As the vehicle stopped in the median it caught fire. The Dodge was the only vehicle involved in the crash. Seat belt use by the driver remains under investigation. The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of family. The South Dakota Highway Patrol did not indicate in a release on the crash the driver’s age or hometown.
