The Pierre Governors had a solid fourth quarter and second half as they would run out to a 35-15 win over Spearfish on Friday night at home on senior night.
Pierre had two methodical drives in the first half for points as the Govs had an 11 play 80 yard drive to open the game with a 21 yard catch by George Stalley. Then Pierre would drive down after a goal line stand with a 12 play, 80 yard drive and a three yard run from Elijah Boutchee to make it 14-0 at the half. Boutchee would add another touchdown run in the second half while Carter Merrill would score from three yards out and Carter Schiefelbein would catch a 22 yard pass as Pierre would get 21 second half points to secure a 20 point win. Lincoln Schoenhard would grab an interception on defense who held Spearfish to 170 yards of total offense.
Kaleb Lounsbury would go 14-23 for 157 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Merril would run for 100 yards on near 30 carries and Lincoln Dilges had three catches for 63 yards.
Pierre improves to 4-4 while Spearfish drops to 6-2. The Govs will travel to Box Elder on Thursday for the final game of the regular season. Coverage will start at 6:30 Central Time with kickoff at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
