The Pierre Governor cross country team would come back to Huron a couple of weeks later and have better showings as Emery Larson would place fourth for the girls and Caleb Morris fifth for the boys.
The Governor girls would place third overall as a team scoring 92 points. Larson would finish with a time of 18:24, just one minute and 14 seconds off the leader. Gwen Richter would get 16th while Harper Shaffer would finish in 20th and Charlee Williams-Smith in 23rd as the four girls inside the top 25. Elaina Rounds, Devyn Van Roekel, Mason Berg and Jayne Lees all would finish in the 30s to help the Governors score remain low.
On the boys side, Morris would place with a time of 16:07, just 35 seconds behind the leader as he and Larson on the girls side were the two runners to be All-ESD on the day. Jayden Brandt would finish at 25th and Daniel Mason was 39th to be the three runners in total inside the top 40. Jim Neddo was also 43rd, Jacob Mason 48th and Ian Rounds at an even 50th. The Governors beat three teams which they hadn’t beaten all year in Harrisburg, Watertown and Tea Area.
