The Sully Buttes Chargers had almost everything working for them as they rolled to a 50-12 victory over Herreid/Selby Area Friday night in Onida.
The pluses were total domination on the ground to the tune of 330 totals yards and through the air with 245 yards for a total of 575 yards of offense.
The Chargers’ defense was stingy most of the night holding the Wolverines to 17 yards of offense in the first half and ended with a total of 186 yards of offense after the teams subbed down to finish the game. The continuous clock was enacted midway through the third quarter.
The minuses were an abundance of penalties; illegal procedures, illegal formation, intentional grounding. The Chargers committed the most penalties of any game this season.
Wesley Wittler had a solid night once again with 209 yards passing and 139 yards rushing, before leaving with leg cramps late in the third quarter. Kadyn Westergren rushed for 131 yards on 15 carries.
The 6-1 Chargers will finish the regular season on the road Friday afternoon at Sunshine Bible Academy and take on the 2-5 Crusaders with a 2:30 scheduled kickoff.
Herreid/Selby Area finishes the regular season at 3-5 and have their bye week before playoff seeding begins the following week.
