The Pierre Governor soccer teams would each get a shutout on Tuesday as the Governor girls would tie 0-0, but the boys would get a 1-0 win over the Yankton Bucks and Gazelles.
It’s the third shutout of the season for Emlyn Swanson as she also has shutouts in wins over Sturgis 6-0 and Watertown 4-0. However, it’s the third game in the last four the Governors have failed to score, including back-to-back games. But after facing four straight teams with above .500 records, the girls won’t see a team in the final three games above .500.
Jacob Leiferman would record his fifth shutout of the season with only one being a scoreless tie against Stevens. Alex Oedekoven assisted by Caiden Ahartz would be the lone goal of the contest and of both varsity games as the Governors are back into the win column with three games remaining on the season.
Both Governor teams are 7-3-1 and will face the Mitchell Kernels Thursday afternoon in a matinee. The girls will play first at 2:00 and the boys will follow at 4:00 from the PILC Fields in Pierre.
