Sully Buttes Uses Balance, Rolls Potter County

Homecoming Night in Hoven for the Potter County Battlers didn’t turn out as they had hoped, as the Sully Buttes Chargers came to town and had a constant offensive balance and smothering defense to shut out the Battlers 52-0 as the game was called by the mercy rule in the fourth quarter.

Sully Buttes led 38-0 by halftime and the continuous clock was enacted to start the second half. The Chargers had 260 rushing yards, led by Kadyn Westergren’s 204 while quarterback Wesley Wittler added 230 yards through the air. Westergren scored three times, two on the ground, and one through the air. Lucas Arcoran crossed the goal line on passes of 81 and 21 yards to help seal the Battlers fate. All told, Sully Buttes racked up 490 yards offensively when they subbed down in the second half.

The Battlers meanwhile just couldn’t find any offensive rhythm, and were shut out for the second time this season, to fall to 0-5 on the year. Next up for Potter County is a bye week, followed by a road game to Herreid Selby Area.

The 4-0 Chargers road gets tougher, with a home contest against Faulkton Area Friday night. You can catch the action on Country 95.3, pierrecountry.com and on YouTube at Country 95.3 Sports.
