The Pierre Governor soccer teams will face the Tea Area Titans for the first time in school history as both the boys and girls team will be involved in tough matchups on Saturday.
The Governor girls will have a top ten matchup against Tea who is 5-3-2 on the season after falling to Brandon Valley on Thursday. The Govs just beat the Lynx on Saturday to improve to 7-2. The Governors are sitting in fourth place in the standings while the Titans are in ninth and it could potentially be a playoff matchup with the winner of Saturday’s contest possibly hosting the other.
The Governor boys are in seventh place in the standings at 6-2-1 while the Titans are at 5-4-1 after its tie with Brandon Valley on Thursday. The Titans are trying to get inside the top ten of the AA standings and a win over Pierre can help get closer to hosting a first round playoff game. As the Govs have just two more contests with teams over .500, a win is certainly huge to try and get the Governors higher up in the standings with just five matches remaining in the year.
The boys will play first 12:00 and the girls will follow at 2:00 at Tea Area High School on Saturday.
