The Pierre Governors were just one shot away from getting second in Yankton on Friday as they were led by Sawyer Sonnenschein who tied for second, but ended in third.
Sonnenschin was two over par, 74 for the day, tying with Taten Mauney of O’Gorman. The two used a scorecard playoff which Mauney won for the silver medal and Sonnenschein would take the bronze. Lincoln Houska would tie for 11th at five over par 77 while both Luke Olson and Nick Bothun would be seven over par, 79 tying for 18th place. Jack Barlett tied for 23rd at eight over par 80 and Tate Stoeser would finish at a 92. Ty Lenards of Watertown would take home gold with a one under par, 71.
As a team, the Governors would be 21 over par, 309 which was one shot back of Brandon Valley and Harrisburg for second place. Watertown would win the event with a 13 over par, 301.
The Governors are back on the course today with an event at Brookings. Tee time is at 10:00 this morning.
