Governor Boys Win, Girls Fall in Harrisburg Thursday

Governor Boys Win, Girls Fall in Harrisburg Thursday

The Pierre Governor soccer teams would split the two decisions on Thursday with the Gov boys picking up another shutout win, 4-0, but the girls would fall 2-0 to the Harrisburg Tigers on the road.

In the boys game, Caiden Ahartz would record a hat trick which included a penalty kick goal as Jacoby LaRoche would have the other of the four goals. Alex Oedekoven and Steven Blanchette each had an assist, as did Caleb Morris, who won a cross country race earlier in the day in Aberdeen. The Governor offense assisted on every goal which was a PK as the offense had no problems breaking through the Tiger defense. Jacob Leiferman recorded another shutout, his now fourth of the season. Pierre improves to now 5-2-1 on the season.

In a top three matchup on the girls side, the Governors would hang tough against the undefeated Tigers, but Harrisburg would get two in the back of the net and the stingy defense recorded another shutout. The Tigers are now 9-0 and have only allowed four goals overall. They’ve given up just one goal in its last six games. Pierre drops to 6-2 on the season.

The Governors are returning home for a Saturday date with Brandon Valley. The girls will play first at 12:00 and the boys will follow at 2:00 at the PILC Fields in Pierre.
