The Leola/Frederick Titans would get a strong second half to pull away from the Stanley County Buffaloes and improve to 3-0 on the season with a 40-8 victory.
The Buffaloes drop to 0-3 on the season but have played now three teams all at 3-0 on the year. Hill City and Parkston also won on Friday to move to 3-0 on the year. The Titans would score in the first three minutes of the ballgame, but lead just 6-0 at the end of the first quarter and take a 12-0 lead before the Buffs pulled out a trick play on 4th and 14. Landon Bame would get the hand off from Paxton Deal, but would toss it back to Q Bourne who threw the ball back to Deal down the sideline for a 36 yard touchdown pass. The two point conversion was good as Colton Brady took the snap as quarterback and dove his way into the end zone. The Buffs defense held the Titans the remainder of the half and a 12-8 ended up as a 20-8 score after three quarters. But three scores all in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter would put the game out of reach as the Titans stay unbeaten.
Stanley County will have one more road game this season, this Friday against Redfield, who is 0-3 after dropping a 48-0 decision to Britton Hecla. Kickoff from Redfield is at 7:00.
