The Stanley County Buffaloes will open up the 9AA season tonight at Ole Williamson Field against a team who is playing for the first time in 9AA, the Hill City Rangers.
Stanley County finished the 2023 season at 7-2, dropping only one regular season game to Bon Homme 28-22 before falling by four 32-28 to Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy in the first round of the 9AA playoffs. The Buffaloes are bring back plenty of experience on both sides of the ball.
Hill City was in 11B last season and drops down to 9-man football this year after a 3-5 season last year missing the playoffs. Max Foth, head coach of the Stanley County Buffaloes says, more so now than ever, you worry about just yourself heading into the first game of the year…
Stanley County also had this transition a couple of years ago. The Buffs were one of the smallest 11B schools and moved to 9-man in the 2021 season. Foth says they can use what they learned in the first game of the transition year to their advantage…
Foth says they need everybody to do their job tonight to get the first win of the season…
Kickoff from Ole Williamson Field is scheduled for 7:00 tonight.
