The Pierre Governors graduated seven seniors from last year’s team who saw plenty of playing time, but will still bring back several experienced varsity members heading into the 2024 season with new head coach Carrie Wheelhouse.
The Governors finished the 2023 season at 10-11, being reversed swept by Aberdeen Central in the SoDak 16. Now as Lainey Reinke, Makayla Sherwood, Aleise Christopherson, Reese Terwilliger, Campbell Boddicker, Abigail Kropp and Jordan Mayer all graduated and head coach Tiffany Stoeser stepping down, the Govs will add new pieces to the puzzle to start the season. Jaycee Bauer, Campbell Cronin, Ava Swenson, Elly Broers, Grace Hanten and Addison Soma return for their senior year from the varsity roster last year. Hadley Hart, a now junior, was the lone sophomore on last year’s varsity roster. Wheelhouse says these girls are showing good things in practice to start the year…
The Governors start the season with three straight home games between Tuesday and Saturday next week and Wheelhouse says it’s great to start at home…
And heading into those first games, Wheelhouse says this team is focused on themselves…
The Governors will open up the season on Tuesday, August 27 at home against Watertown. The match has first serve at 7:00 and will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports
