Governors Place Two Inside Top Ten in First Event, Finish Fourth

The Pierre Governor golf team would wrap up the first rounds of play on Tuesday finishing in fourth place as a team as both Nick Bothun and Sawyer Sonnenschein would finish in the top ten.

The trio of Bothun, Sonnenschein and Jack Bartlett each tied for seventh place in the second day which pushed both Bothun and Sonnenschein to the top ten as Bothun would finish sixth overall, eight shots back of first, while Sonnenschein would tie for ninth at nine over par for the two days. Bartlett would finish tied with teammate Luke Olson for 2oth place at 12 over par for the tournament. Lincoln Houska would shot a nine over par and finish at 14 over par tying for 25th and Tate Stoeser would finish the two day event at a total of 191. Charlie Swift of Harrisburg would win the individual title for the two day event as he would shoot one under par, two shots better than Carter Peterson of Brandon Valley who tired to overcome five shot lead.

Pierre did not move positions in the team standings between day one and two, but inched closer to Brandon Valley finishing just two shots back of third place and nine shots back of second. Watertown would win the team title with a 586, 14 shots better than the Governors.
