The Stanley County volleyball team had one of its best years in recent history, finishing nearly 10 wins over .500. Now, in 2024, the Lady Buffs want to continue the success.
The Lady Buffaloes graduated seven seniors on last year’s team. Mattie Duffy, Cadence Hand, Luna Garcia, Tatum Scott, Kate Kramme, Olivia Frederick and Racheal Runge all are gone from graduation. Now, the Lady Buffs will fill in those pieces heading into the start of the season as Liberty Harrington, Caycee Knight, Brylee Kafka, Isabella Talmantez, Journey Schnee, Reese Hand and Raegan Taylor will all enter their senior year.
Stanley County finished the year at 18-9 last year, earning a home game against Cheyenne-Eagle Butte in the first round of the playoffs sweeping the Braves before falling to Mobridge-Pollock in the SoDak 16 qualifying game. TJ Drageset, heading into her second year as head coach of the Lady Buffs, says the varsity girls returning really got a taste of success last year…
With the seniors who graduated, new players will fill new roles and Drageset says it can be hard to find the right spot, but these girls are working hard…
Drageset says the biggest thing early on is getting the chemistry with this team…
Stanley County will open the season on Tuesday, August 27 on the road against Chamberlain.
