Four Corners Can’t Hold on to Lead, Fall in Second Round to Garretson

The Four Corners baseball team scored four runs in the bottom of the third to lead Garretson 4-1, but even with a rain delay, Four Corners would fall 12-4 in the second round of the Amateur baseball state tournament on Wednesday.

Brad Hand, Sam Hand, Andrew McCloud and Andrew Coverdale each had an RBI in the third and the lead would hold until the sixth inning. Garretson would score six runs in the sixth to take a 7-4 lead and then add on another four runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach, sending them to the quarterfinals and Four Corners season to an end. Garrett Stout would pick up the loss on the mound going five and two thirds innings allowing just one run through five, but ultimately giving up seven runs on six hits, four walks and seven strikeouts. Jack Van Camp and Sam Hand each had a triple in the loss.

Four Corners finishes the season at 10-9 while Garretson will take on Winner/Colome in the quarterfinals on Friday night.
