The Pierre Governor girls soccer team is returning all but two seniors from last year’s team who reached the quarterfinals and finished the season at 9-5-1.
The Governors graduated both Ryann Barry and Brianna Sargent, but will have five seniors in the 2024 campaign as the Govs return Gracelyn Taylor, Ireland Templeton, Aly Hutchinson, Grace Engbrecht and Jersey Understock. Last year’s offense was the third highest scoring team in the state averaging 3.8 goals per game. The Governors also return the starting goalie in Emlyn Swanson who is entering her freshman year. The Governors will open up the season on Friday and Saturday hosting Aberdeen Central and Brookings at the PILC Fields in Pierre.
