Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Vehicle Counts Down So Far During Event

PIERRE, (KCCR) — Traffic at this year’s Sturgis Motorcycle Rally has trended down compared to last year. The Rally started August 2nd when over 51-thousand vehicles were counted, which was down one-point-five percent over the five year average. Saturday August 3rd saw just over 55-thousand vehicles, down two-point-three percent. The biggest drop was on Sunday August 4th when just over 52-thousand vehicles were recorded, which was down 12-point-seven percent from the five year average. On Monday August 5th just shy of 56-thousand vehicles were tallied, down five-point-two percent. Tuesday August 6th was down five-point-two percent with 54-thousand 451 vehicles. Wednesday Aug 7th saw vehicle counts down three-point-six percent from the five year average with over 52-thousand 800 vehicles. So far 321-thousand, 788 vehicles have entered count areas. That is down compared to the five year average to date of 339-thousand 359 or 17-thousand 571 fewer than the five year average.
