In an invite only event, local golfers find themselves inside the top ten at the Sanford Futures Tour as Miller’s Jayce Pugh would be second and Pierre’s Lincoln Houska would tie for tenth.
It would be a two day event out in Sioux Falls as the girls tournament had 15 competitors and Pugh would finish in second, just two shots behind Brynn Roehrich of Clark for first place. The two were tied with Aberdeen Central’s Olivia Braun after the first round as all three would shoot a 77. Roehrich shot a 74 on Tuesday while Pugh had a 76 and Braun had a 77, all three still having the best day of the competition.
On the boys side, Houska would tie for tenth shooting a 153 overall, nine over par, tying with three others. Houska would shoot a 74 on Tuesday to improve his final placement. Teammate Nick Bothun, also had a 74 in the second round, finishing in 14th place, just one shot back of Houska. Sully Buttes’ Gavin Colson would tie for 24th with a 158 overall. Taten Mauney of O’Gorman would win the tournament shooting a 69 both days, finishing six under par and beating Parker Brock by a stroke.
