PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Iowa woman accused of stealing over one-point-eight million dollars intended for the care of foster children in South Dakota is scheduled to appear in court Thursday in Pierre to address those charges. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says 68-year-old Lonna Carroll has been indicted on two counts of Aggravated Grand Theft. Carroll is a former Department of Social Services employee who retired to Iowa last year. The South Dakota Legislatures’ Government Operations and Audit Committee is making a formal request to review the situation. Committee member, Senator Tim Reed of Brookings says it’s hard to understand how the alleged deception lasted so long…
Carroll has been extradited to South Dakota and is being held in the Hughes County Jail.
