Pierre Post 8 would explode for five doubles in an inning in a 12-3 win in game one, but fall in game two by a 10-2 final earning a split against Brandon Valley on Thursday on the road.
Post 8 would trail 2-1 after two innings to Brandon Valley, but Nolan Petersen would lead off the third with a double. The double in then turned four of the next five batters to all hit doubles scoring five runs as Carter Scheifelbein, Sutton Sonnenschein, Charlie Simpson and Cooper Terwilliger would all drive in runs as Terwilliger drove in two. Pierre would lead 6-3 heading into the sixth before a six run inning would put the game out of reach for good. Terwilliger would have another RBI while Dawson Getz and Scheifelbein each had an RBI in the inning. Miles Doyle would get the win on the mound going five and 1/3 innings giving up two runs on nine hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Dawson Getz would get the final five outs allowing just one walk.
It was a contrast to the second game though, as Brandon Valley opened up with a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first and 7-0 lead after two innings as Jackson Adams would have a two RBI double in the second. JJ Bucholz would drive in Pierre’s first run in the third on a double down the right field line and Doyle would have a sacrifice fly in the fourth but still made it just 9-2. Brayton Stroh hit a solo shot in the third for Brandon Valley. Terwilliger would pick up the loss going the first two innings giving up seven runs, six earned on three hits, five walks and a strikeout.
