The Pierre Little League team would be shutout in the first round of the 2024 state tournament in Rapid City as the Rapid City Little League would get the 4-0 win.
Carter Dokken, Jax Newcomer and Kingston Massa each had base hits for Pierre who couldn’t quite get a run across in its first game of the tournament as the Rapid City pitching staff allowed just two walks and hit two other guys in six innings of work. John Boes would throw three and 1/3 innings allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits with four walks and seven strikeouts. Dokken would go the next inning and 2/3 giving up a run on two hits and a walk before Jett Brakke would get the final three outs in the sixth allowing just one hit.
Canyon Lake would have a six run comeback and beat Sioux Falls Little League 10-9 in the first game of the tournament. Pierre will face Sioux Falls in an elimination game on Friday. First pitch is at 8:30 Central Time.
